Who wants to play?

Banished needs 14 volunteers on stage every night, picked at random from people who put their name in the bag. Tick the box next to anyone in your group who wants to be considered. Anyone who doesn't want to play just watches — they're still in for a great night.

Before you tick

What's the deal with the "volunteer" box?

Banished needs 14 people on stage every night. We pick them randomly from everyone who put themselves "in the bag" at ticket purchase. The form lets you tick (or untick) for each ticket separately — so if you're going with friends, each person decides individually. Tick if you genuinely want to play; you might be murdered, lied to, banished, and (cheerfully) exposed in front of 230-odd people. Leave it unticked if you just want to watch. Both are fine; just be honest.

What happens if I'm selected?

You get an email by 5pm on the day with a personal link to your phone-bound player page. Arrive at the venue by 6pm. Runners brief you on the format (which you'll have already read in the cast pack we sent you). You take your audience seat. When the show opens, the moderator reads your name from the scroll — at that moment, your phone lights up red and a runner walks down the aisle with a microphone and your name tag. You walk on stage. From there: two hours of mild chaos.

Can I bring a group?

Yes — up to 6 tickets per order. When you set the ticket count, the form expands to show a row per ticket. You decide individually for each ticket whether that person wants to be on stage or just watch — so a group of four can have, say, two people in the bag and two happily watching. Volunteers each get the cast pack by email so they're ready if selected.

What if I get cold feet?

You can untick the volunteer box up until 5pm on show day. After that we've already emailed the 14 selected players and lined up alternates. If you've been selected and back out after 5pm, we slide an alternate up — no penalty to you, but please give us a heads-up if you can.

Refunds?

Full refund up to 7 days before the show. After that, no refund unless we cancel. Tickets are non-transferable — your name on the door is what we scan in.

Will I be filmed?

The show isn't broadcast to the screen — the big screen carries the vote tally and the game, not a live camera feed. We may take photos and some footage on the night for promotional use (the morning-after reel, future trailers), and anyone on stage could appear in it. If that's a hard no for you, don't tick the volunteer box — the audience seats aren't the focus.

Accessibility?

The Smurfit Theatre is fully accessible — lift to auditorium and stage, accessible toilets, dedicated seating. Reply to your confirmation email with any specific needs and we'll arrange.
